BOB GURR HOSTED DISNEY D23 SIP & STROLL EVENT
Posted 10/19/11 by Vickie in D23, epcot, epcot food & wine festival
The Disney D23 team hosted another great Sip & Stroll event. Last year we met and strolled with Dave Smith. This year we are able to spend time with Disney Legend Bob Gurr.
According to Disney Insider, "Bob often quips: 'If it moves on wheels at Disneyland, I probably designed it.' And he certainly has, developing more than 100 designs for attractions ranging from Autopia to the Matterhorn Bobsleds to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Monorails, and more."
On Monday morning, I asked Bob to say hello to our camera :
The event began on Sunday evening, October 16th with a wine and cheese reception on the 2nd floor of the American Adventure Rotunda. We were greeted by Bob Gurr himself, along with members of the D23 team including Steven Clark, Becky Cline and Laura Sanchez. ( pictured above with Steve). Following the reception we were lead downstairs for a dinner on the 1st floor in the rotunda.
Bob Gurr and the Disney D23 staff distributed themselves among the tables. During dessert Bob joined our table and signed autographs. It was a bit exciting and amusing as our table was soon surrounded by the other guests and those of us originally seated at our table found ourselves moving aside for others to come and sit for a minute next to a Disney Legend. We were honored!

Monday morning we gathered in the World Showplace for presentations from: Marianne Hunnel & Michael Jenner-creators of the Food & Wine Festival, Bart Vandaele-Anheuser-Busch brew master and Chef Jens-Epcot Executive Chef. I have posted videos of their presentations. There were most entertaining and informative. click the three links below
Following the presentations were lead into a wonderful lunch where we were able to try some of the special food & wine items being presented during the festival. Lunch was great, and we again were able to spend some time visiting with a Disney Legend.
The afternoon we strolled around the World Showcase Lagoon. There was a VIP lounge set up for us at the American Adventure 3rd floor. I stopped by there late in the afternoon and was lucky enough to discover Bob was there visiting with D23 Sip & Stroll guests.
Sugar Ray was performing at the America Gardens Theatre. They put on a fabulous show !

The evening ended with a fabulous dessert party in France while watching IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.
I can't wait for next year !
