Hidden Mickey on Main Street, U.S.A. Magic Kingdom
Posted 7/14/12 by Vickie in Magic Kingdom, Main Street U.S.A.
Two of the tough questions Steve has to consider are:
"The difference between a Trefoil and Hidden Mickey?"
or, "Is that Mickey shape Decor or Hidden?"
Recently in the Magic Kingdom we bravely faced head on both questions.
This is a really agonizing debate for someone who takes the pursuit of Hidden Mickeys as seriously as he does. There are other considerations as well but as a general rule I leave those discussions to Steve.
I rarely offer much input on the Hidden Mickey point system or debate the difference between a one pointer and a Decor.
However, sometimes I just can't help myself, Steve will point out a Hidden Mickey and I will blurt out "No, it is Decor". This leads to Steve explaining to me for the umpteenth time. "There must be Hidden Mickeys for the little ones, this game is for ALL ages and we must have one pointers along with the more difficult ones." I often still think is is decor but, eventually, in the interest of a more peaceful lunch, I will agree it is worth one point.
The Casting Door on Main Street, U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom is an example of the question "Is it a Hidden Mickey or Decor?" This is a fun door to find as it references the year the Magic Kingdom opened, 1971, and a Walt Disney quote: "It takes People to Make the Dream a Reality". There are also one-point Hidden Mickeys on the door, one at the top and one at the bottom, for a combined total of two points for the little ones. (There is a similar window on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland )

Steve finds both an example of a trefoil and a Hidden Mickey in the Aladdin shop window in Magic Kingdom.
