Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, Interactive Game
Posted 1/10/12 by Steve in Magic Kingdom, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
Vickie and I tried our hand at the new interactive game "Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.", currently in the guest testing stage. We checked into a "Sorcerer's Training" area in the Fire Station on Main Street, U.S.A., where we were instructed about the rules of the game.
We were given our key card to unlock the Magic Kingdom portals and our map along with five (from an estimated total of 70) spell cards to combat the villains who are trying to capture the Magic Kingdom for their evil purposes. It is being predicted that fans will soon be collecting the spell cards. Hades has concocted a plan to retool the Magic Kingdom into an evil, ugly place with the help of many nefarious Disney villains. Merlin, the indomitable sorcerer, created the "Mystic Portals" to allow us to fight these villains and defend the realm (the Magic Kingdom, of course!).
The lands of the Magic Kingdom have several portals each; the portals are in windows and on walls scattered around the buildings of the park. There are more villains than portals, it is possible to be sent back to a previously visited portal to fight another villain. As we unlock each portal with our key card, an animated and colorful (and humorous) scene plays out in front of us. We use our spell cards on cue to immobilize the villains, and we are then directed to the next portal to continue the fight.
The game is being perfected by Disney and will have three or more levels of complexity. Vickie and I were in Level 1, the easiest level. In higher levels, the villains can actually win against the players, threatening the very existence of the Magic Kingdom as we know it! That's rather unDisneylike, but it makes the game interesting, don't you think?

Vickie and I enjoyed the game, which has some similarities to the Kim Possible game at Epcot. Both games entreat the player to visit different areas of the park which offer personal interactive experiences triggered by an action by the player. We encourage you to try your hand as Merlin's helper to save the Magic Kingdom from Hades and his partners in crime!

I am looking forward to trying this game with my son-in-law in afew weeks! He has never been to WDW, does not like thrill rides, so this will be something for us to enjoy together.....!
That is so cool! If I go to Disney World someday, i will toatally try it out!
I love the concept, and I think it does have a chance to change the way the parks entertain guests when things are busy.
